We went there last night , Service was terrible The manager or the owner had no costumer service skill at all ... My freind order a lobster took one bite and did not like how it taste, so she ask them to take it back and not add it on the bill . And the owner had a nasty attittude she talk to her like she was a child and said to her " It's either I give you another Lobster or you pay " and my frreind said to her she did not want another Lobster and the manager said " well that is not my problem " so I said to her if she did not like the way it taste why should she get another one, and wasted another lobster that maybe just as bad .Them Lobsters are $45.00 .... that would be a waste and furthermore I explain to her when you go somewhere and you not satisfied with the food and you don't want to try it again they usually refund you that money the owner started yelling and said " well this is not an american restaurant thats not how we work , you all don't come back here no more ". Mind you our bill was already over $300.00 . Never again I was very offended . And we go there very often spend over $400.00 and a check ... F*** thatthat is not how you run things . Finally she took it off the bill after an argument but dammm for real .

Decent food. terrible service. After asking for a $26 dish, they told us the other one was "better", and we ordered it. when the bill came, it ended up being a $69.99 flounder dish. After asking the manager and wait staff, they refused to alter the bill despite the fact we ordered $200 worth of food and eat there on a very regular basis. My main issues were that a. they should have told our table up front about the price of the dish they recommended since is was almost 3x the price of the one we asked for and b. the customer service was terrible after the fact. they never apologized and pretended they didn't speak english.

I was hopeful - lots of interesting things on the menu that looked promising. Alas, what we ate was just okay. The noodle soup had a bit of an oil slick at the top. And a noodle dish was pretty unremarkable. On the other hand, what the folks had across the aisle looked pretty awesome. Looked like one of their weekday dishes, which is what we wanted, but it was the weekend. What?! Rats!

Anytime I see a group of tourists huddled around a window-posted menu in search of the best "Chinatown" restaurant, I always stop and recommend this place. You'll notice none of the Chinese joints in the area have particularly high ratings but TRUST ME - Ming's is your best bet for Chinese food. Unlike the other dingy, sub-par, questionable joints on H Street, Ming's is clean, (relatively) classy, and reliably delicious. The interior is modern and inviting and there's a full-service bar with two big-screen TVs.Any of the dishes my friends and I have ordered have never disappointed - I'm a big fan of the Sweet and Sour Chicken (crispy, with all-white meat and deliciously tangy sauce). The menu is diverse enough that you can order sushi, Chinese or Japanese - and even try something as daring as fried pork-intestines or go with perfectly safe bets like General Tso's chicken or Lo Mein. The prices aren't the cheapest ever - but they're fair for the small, family-sized offerings. The service *can* be a bit hit or miss, but usually the staff is pretty kind and accommodating. There are few remnants of anything authentically Chinese in Chinatown, but as the wave of hip/new restaurants surges, I'm grateful there's a good standby for Pan-Asian cuisine.

It sure has a nice decor and a good location in Chinatown. The dining room is much more warm and welcoming than those other Chinatown restaurants with their fluorescent lights, hard plastic chairs, and photocopied menus. Prices aren't bad here either. But how is the food? In a word, bad. Greasy, stale, and flavorless. My appetizer and main course both had virtually no flavor, just a crunchy (burnt) texture and an aroma of rancid fry oil. I will swear that my crispy beef had zero flavor -- except for the residue of the oil. If my eyes had been closed I would have thought I was eating stir-fried styrofoam or strips of cardboard. There are many, many places in this neighborhood with decent food, but this is not one of them.

I'm sure there's got to be better restaurants out there in D.C. Chinatown...I'm sorry, mom. You taught me to never judge a book by it's cover, but I did. I regret it, and you were right.Ming's Restaurant is an illusion. You get enticed by the outer elegance of the building -- its modern, yet representative Chinese architectural door; its granite-looking wall; and its well-groomed, rounded sign that reads "MING's". You walk inside and notice a well-lit bar with nice wooden bar chairs. Then you trek further and get impressed with the dining furniture, decor, and lighting. You make mental notes of how the ambiance looks pretty good, never suspecting that that's all you'll get out of this place. You get seated; take a look at their menu; you're delighted at the variety; you understand that the relatively higher prices should be justified. You place orders for a number of dishes. Each one comes out with nice presentation...Then you snap back into reality. The portions are half the size of other restaurants. The food tastes less than mediocre. Service is not slow per say, but certainly rude. Bottom line -- you paid a premium for a magic trick.

This place is complete garbage. Extremely rude staff and owner. I think someone there called her Michelle or Mickey? They will attempt to yell and argue with you if there is any issue/problem with the food, even if it is their mistake i.e. meat in a vegetarian dish. I mean, an actual professional restaurant would apologize and understand why that could be a problem for someone. What will happen when they ignore an allergy warning from a customer and someone gets really sick?In a city with great food like Washington, DC please go elsewhere. There are many businesses that take the customer experience more seriously, and considering the inflated prices at Ming's, you cant just chalk it up to being a cheap meal. The sauce was very good with riceEggplant Casserole - extremely salty. Would not get it again.Calamari - Very crispy, but they skimped on the squid meat.Black Pepper Beef- Great beef dish. The beef was very tender the sauce was great with rice.Scallops- Very good, could've added more vegetable.Chinese Broccoli- Very good, but it's very hard to mess up this dish. The garlic was a good touch to this dish though. The only complaint I have with Ming's is the price and the portion they give. For example, a General Tso's Chicken would cost 13 dollars for 10 pieces of chicken (That is a total rip-off. I could get twice as much General Tso's Chicken in a normal takeout place for half that price). Most of their food there were very salty, plus their staff were not prompt in refilling your water. Half of my experience in Ming's was to learn how to deal with dehydration.

If you're out on the town binge drinking until bars close, late-night binge dining is just something that naturally happens next. Sometimes it's pizza. Sometimes it's falafel. Sometimes it's diner food. At one point in time, I would've argued that this is an event largely unplanned. But that was before I met Ming's.On the weekends, DC bars shut down at 3a (although I hear there's a push to extend liquor sales to 4a), and if you feel like you could really use, say, an hour and a half more of bad decisions, Ming's is gonna serve you until 430a if you sit down and order food. To no one's surprise, there is a mad rush of people in here after last call. This all leads to sake bombs, sake chants, sake pounding on the tables, and sake spilling all over yourself. This is not your hole-in-the-wall Asian joint, but rather a three-floor, lounge-like, full-blown restaurant. And I've got to say, the food here is pretty damn good. Nevermind this coming from someone who's only been here hammered, I will tell you what to order, as it's been ordered for me first-hand from friends in the area who have probably logged enough hours here to fill out timesheets for a full-time position. The Shredded Crispy Beef is my number one, just a delicious mound of red meat strips doused in a thick Szechuan sauce I wish some place, somewhere would put on some wings. A round of Wonton Soups for the table is a must order, especially at $2 apiece. The broth will help you ease from bar drinking to Ming's drinking - trust me. The Peking Duck is also a popular pick, served as giant slices of fatty bird just dropped in the center of the table for everyone to fight over. The Crab Rangoon is also a great call at 6 for $6, if perhaps a bit too creamy. And finally, sake bombs. Duh.Prior to hitting the town, I usually don't care where I wind up being a disgusting, drunk slob at the end of the night. But in DC, I'm thinking about it by the time we hit the first bar. In DC, if I'm gonna be that slob, it's gotta be at Ming's.

300th review whoo. I came here with a friend for dinner and we sat at the bar while we waited for a table. I noticed that the TV was on, and they were showing some show about eating bugs for meals. I lost my appetite for a minute there, and was pretty happy that we weren't seated anywhere near the TV once our table was ready. Food wise, we ordered three dishes to split:Chicken corn chowder - tasty but I don't think that they use fresh corn, the difference is pretty obviousCrispy beef - so good! Super heavy though.Jumbo shrimp in wine sauce - apparently wine sauce = orange sauce. It tasted okay though, although they could've given it more pizazz by adding a greater variety of veggies instead of only throwing in a can of water chestnuts.Overall, their meat dishes could definitely go a little heavier on the veggies. I was craving something healthy and started eating the garnishes lol, but gnawed on something that turned out to be super bitter and I had to spit it out :(

This is not to say the fish was bad but definitely not worth the money.Service is just okay as well, they didn't make me feel overly welcome and I didn't feel like anybody was checking to make sure I was enjoying my meal. They oddly charge for refills on soft drinks, I mean I understand times are tight and the economy is down but give your customers a little deal and allow free refills on soda. Is there some kind of soda fiend that is going drink you out of business?Definitely will not be returning anytime soon, Ming's just did nothing at all to impress me.PS odd note pointed out to me by a friend, apparently they have large bathrooms that are wheelchair accessible but you have to go up stairs to get in and therefore no wheelchair can come inside. You ever experience a situation where you don't get what you want but trying to complain or fix the problem would take more effort?Well that is what happened to me here at Ming's. I ate here after a long day at the Museums and wanted something to hit home, like Hong Kong style noodles with beef. I asked the waiter if they had that and he pointed to the menu under noodles to something called Chow Fun beef and Chinese broccoli. That sounded like something close to hong Kong style noodles, even he said so. When it came to my table, it looked nothing like the noodles I eat back I'm LA. These noodles looked more like pad see ew, the long wide ones. I didn't want to complain, and I ate it because I was hungry. It wasn't bad at all, but I was eating something that I didn't want. Maybe I should have known what Chow Fun noodles are, or at least spoken up. I hated how I sensed them watching me as I ate.

Decor is definitely nicer than your average chinese restaurant. We ordered1x pan fried dumplings and 1x steam dumplings. When they both came out, they were pretty much the exact same thing. Not a big deal in the end, the dumplings were good enough. When our beef and broccoli and pepper steak came out, first thought was that the portions were pretty small for the amount of money they're charging. Maybe it was just the presentation, the dish was a bit on the larger side, and in the end, probably better for my health anyways. All in all, a good experience, food was light and satisfying and the only things that left a bad taste in my mouth was the cost and server who seemed indifferent to our presence. Shrimp with walnuts dish had a hair in the shrimp... NOT ON TOP of the shrimp, IN THE BATTER. Gross. Sushi was really terrible. As my mother raved about whatever interesting shrimp dish she selected and our vegetarian ice-hater delighted over her tofu, two of us remained quiet. Apparently the beef fried rice and my lobster sauce soup (nope, I didn't order soup; there was just that much sauce) were not what put Ming's on the best-of lists in DC.I find myself wanting to blame the impulse decision rather than the restaurant for my banal entree. Flaming DragonYum. This is a pretty good quasi old school Chinese, with enough effort and skill in the kitchen to bring you to a very happy place on a plate. The interior is actually pretty nice given the genre of restaurant it is. Tastefully done, slightly contemporary/urban, well lit, with solid Asian motif, but all with a very western sensibility.Food: Surprisingly good. Orange chicken was spiced well, not too sweet, nice crunch, fresh garnishes. Quality of the chicken was OK.Shrimp fried rice ( I have a weakness for good fried rice) was good, not too oily nor too bland. Generous amount of small shrimp.Beef with Broccoli was OK. The broccoli was really good, crisp and fresh, but the beef (meow) was suspect. Would be good just as a vegetable dish.Spring rolls were ridiculously hot temperature-wise, so as an app, it takes too long to eat before the mains come... almost 10 minutes for them to be cool enough to handle!
